Christophe Albertijn (1978, Belgium)
His trajectory runs from home recording experiments in his early teens with tape recorders and home-made devices through studies in documentary film and electro-acoustic music composition to work as a musician, recording engineer, producer and composer in diverse fields such as electro-acoustic music, contemporary dance & performance, cinema and visual arts.
He founded the audio-visual improvisation ensemble Bateau Lavoir in 1998 and has worked for choreographers such as Uiko Watanabe, Sara Manente, Varinia Canto Vila, Nada Gambier, Jonas Chereau, Madeleine Fournier, Marcos Simoes, Lilia Mestre, Gaetan Bulourde and Cecilia Lisa Eliceche among others as well as filmmakers and visual artists for sound design, post-production and original music creation and performance.
He teaches film sound, sound theory and recording technology, and as a recording, mixing and mastering engineer he has worked on hundreds of albums ...
With Sara Manente he made a 3D film, Spectacles #4 and collaborates for several projects such as "Mold," which exists both as a dance performance and a multidisciplinary installation between laboratory, architecture and performance.
In 2020, he founded the music label HUIS to document musicians and architecture.
With Mira Matthew ( Brussels/Johannesburg ) he made a radio play ‘Hyena Women’ that uses archival material, field recordings, interviews and sound design to tell the story of 4 generations of women between South Africa and Belgium around Art and Nature.
In 2023 he collaborated with Wim Cuyvers for his film Dode N Berg, for which he did the sound recording, mix and soundtrack ( with Clara Levy ).
